Dr. Constance Awinpoka Akurugu serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of CDA-Ghana, providing strategic leadership and governance oversight to advance the organization’s mission of building resilient, inclusive and equitable communities.
She is a distinguished gender scholar, feminist advocate and development practitioner whose research, policy engagement and advocacy focus on gender equality, social inclusion, power relations and human rights — spanning gender mainstreaming, prevention of gender-based violence, women’s empowerment, conflict prevention, peacebuilding and inclusive governance.
A passionate champion of gender justice, she has dedicated her career to advancing the rights and leadership of women, girls and marginalized groups, particularly in Northern Ghana.
As Board Chairperson, Dr. Akurugu provides visionary leadership that strengthens CDA-Ghana’s governance, accountability, strategic direction and commitment to safeguarding, diversity, equity and inclusion.
